Last SSRD home team bout of 2011, bout number 5 for me, and it was amazing. Big Ups to the rookies Mel Adjusted and Terror to Pieces on their awesome debuts and a special shout out to Polly Alloy on her first bout as ref. I’m fitter and lighter than I’ve been in over a year, at my lightest bouting weight to date, and it made a massive difference to how I felt on the track.

I feel that with every bout I’m getting a little bit more aware, relaxing more and just having a good time. Last night was my favourite bout i’ve played in, I had the most fun ever and I think I played my best game so far. Although I did spend a disappointing 4 minutes in the penalty box in the second half ._. (from memory it was 1 cut track, 1 forearms, 1 elbows and 4 minors). It felt pretty shit to be in there so often in such a short amount of time. The silver lining for me is that it was nice to get a little rest and fanned from the penalty timers due to the excessive 30 degree heat <3. Due to the bout theme and heat I was very close to collapsing on track and screaming “I’m melting…*gurgle*”.

The Dolly Rogers put up an extremely tough fight and at half time there was only 5 points the difference. In a slightly cooler second half the charmers brought it home for a 35 point win (135 to 100), making it 3-1 for the season. I do so love being a Charmer.

My only regret is that the one moment I chose to pull out the signature turn around toe stop robot (TTSR), after forcing the Dolly jammer out and having them run back behind me, Titsasaurus was the only one who saw me and no one else believed me. I’ll have to be more obnoxious and loud next time…

12WBT challenge update: Last results indicate in 7.5 weeks I have lost 10.3 kg and a total of 39.5 cm. I also took another 20 seconds off my 1km run time. There is about another 4 weeks to go until the final weigh in and my goal of being down at my boot camp weight looks possible. If I don’t get there I’m not going to beat myself up. I’ll just get there on my own time after the program has finished. The 12WBT challenge will start another round early next year which I think I will do. Ideally I would like to lose another 15kg from what I am right now. Perhaps If I get there I’ll be fit and streamlined enough to start jamming…*guffaws*…talk about getting ahead of ourselves.

Next up: End of season break up party and the last SSRD Siren’s game of the year in Ballarat. After that it’s a few weeks break from training which means regular Monday sessions at Caribbean Rollerama, just like the good old days…You should come down for a skate :)

I am sad I missed the Robot too. You played very well though, however my favorite part was Darko as lead jammer.

That was my first derby bout I watched and it was amazing. You did so well! Also just want to say reading your blog inspires me – just started derby 3 months ago myself. Keep it up!
